Yeh Hai Delhi Meri Jaan: Delhiites Are we worthy of being called Human??????????

I did hear during my childhood days and still come across verses that say God made man in his own image. The dilemma still persists in my mind, if it’s the mistake of God or what man has made of man. Delhi is on a new high and seems ravishing with the fact of upcoming Common Wealth Games. Amid this exuberance, I would like to bring to your kind notice an incident that happened in the streets of Delhi exposing our indifference towards the needy and the poor.
This article is dedicated to those enriched and awakened souls who passed by overlooking the most unfortunate incident that happened on a busy street (that got the auspicious presence of thousands of feet who walked past going to work, going shopping, returning home) in Shakti Nagar, Canaught Place Delhi on 26th June. To brief readers if the incident went unnoticed, a poor lady lying in a pool of dirty rainwater, dogs lurking nearby, flies hovering around her nine-month pregnant body goodness graciously gave birth to a girl child in the middle of the street (although the lady died after few days). We still have few noble souls that deserve our appreciation like Ritu Arthur Frederick ( a garment shop owner at CP) who came to the rescue of the child or else the poor baby would have gone to the dogs.
Doesn’t our soul prick us seeing a lady screaming of labour pains on the street? If these screams fail to arouse our consciousness then may be god will have to personally approach us to titillate our consciousness.
I render my encomiums and praises to wanna be mothers, girls who would be mother some day and ladies who are mothers, who were unlucky enough to pass that sight without bothering to help that poor lady.
For heaven’s sake lets stop camouflaging ourselves as spiritual beings visiting temples, kowtowing in front of deities, paying huge sums for building tombs and statues of gold and lacking the belongingness and sensitivity towards the most beautiful creation of God and that’s Human Beings. We have been so engrossed with our hedonistic tendencies and gratification of sensual pleasures, that we have turned indifferent to other’s sufferings.
I fail to understand that how can we expect a social harmony in the society, when we are so self obsessed. It’s good to talk about big things like values, morals and ethics but what do you expect of a poor father whose child hasn’t had food for last two days and sees other’s child eating a Chocolate truffle sitting in a BMW. Leave aside theft, I would justify terrorism to make my ends meet in such a scenario. Anarchy is the outcome of our apathy. Our this apathetic attitude towards those not related to us, has been a reason for THE Naxalite problem reaching such proportions.
Wake up Friends. If we are blessed to be born in amicable environment, why not contribute in someone’s life, bringing cheers and smiles to the faces around. Why not give our almighty father (God) a reason to look at us and proudly say “Yes, that’s my Child”.
